One of the support structures of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) is the network of Focal Points established during the Belgian Chairmanship of the GFMD last year.  Through this network, UN member countries and relevant stakeholders that are referred to as “Friends of the Forum” are able to communicate and liaise with each other by email, owing to the voluntary and informal nature of the GFMD.

The global network of focal points in order to facilitate further dialogue at national level, as well as networking at the global level between GFMD participating governments. These focal points shall be regularly in contact with each other at the national level and shall be established at a sufficiently high level of policy making or at least, shall regularly report to policy makers.
